Metal panel and grating installation procedures

Follow standard substrate preparation guidelines, fastening methods, exterior sealing rules, and dimensional tolerances for reliable structural performance in demanding installations.

Sub-Structure Preparation

Proper frame readiness prevents face distortion, uneven gaps, and point-load failure on perforated panels and heavy grating runs.

01

Structural frame verification

Verify that all sub-framing steel, aluminum mullions, and structural supports align within ±1.5 mm of the engineering datum line before placing panels.

02

Span deflection assessment

Calculate maximum unsupported spans under localized dead load and wind pressure to ensure framing spacing conforms to ASTM guidelines.

03

Dissimilar metal isolation

Apply dielectric neoprene tape, EPDM gaskets, or inert barrier coatings wherever aluminum or galvanized mesh contacts raw structural carbon steel.

04

Surface plane planar check

Use laser levels or tension wires across every 3-meter frame interval to eliminate face distortion and oil canning across adjacent panels.

Critical Preparation Checklist
Inspect these field conditions prior to lifting panel bundles onto scaffoldings.
Verify structural steel purlins are free of mill scale, grease, and weld splatter.
Confirm plumb alignment of intermediate mullions within 2 mm across floor-to-floor spans.
Test torque ratings of all substructure mounting brackets before hanging facade panels.
Coordinate penetrations for building MEP, conduits, and sensor brackets prior to metal placement.
Galvanic Protection Reminder

Never place raw aluminum directly against unpainted structural steel in outdoor settings. Use non-conductive shims or dielectric isolation tapes.
